eBay: 1993 Lincoln Mark VIII With Sliding Doors

The Lincoln Mark VIII might not be one of our favourite cars, actually quite the opposite; however, this particular Mark VIII has something that caught our attention: sliding doors! It might be far from being a BMW Z1 but we’re sure that you’ll cause the same commotion. According to the eBay seller, this one-off prototype was commissioned by Ford and designed by Joalto Design Inc. near Detroit. The seller says that there is no documentation to substantiate the claims above since the executives wanted all evidence destroyed. -Follow the jump to check out our video and see the sliding doors in action

Top Gear Tests A 1968 Dodge Charger 440 R/T

In this episode, Top Gear’s Richard Hammond, also known as the “Hamster”, took the all-American classic 1968 Dodge Charger R/T out for a spin to see how it rides. The Charger R/T, one of our personal “dream garage cars” was fitted with improved suspension, heavy-duty brakes, dual exhaust, and of course, the all-mighty 440 V8 Magnum engine (7.2-liters, 375 bhp) combined with a Torqueflite 727 3-speed auto or optionally, with a 4-speed manual gearbox. As much as they would have liked to, Top Gear avoided practicing their usual mischief on the R/T so don’t except to see any explosions or cliff jumps (thank God), just your usual Brit sarcasm. -Video after the jump

The Oldest Car In The World That Still Runs Up For Sale

On August 19th, at Pebble Beach California, an unprecedented automobile auction will be taking place. The oldest functioning car in the world will be auctioned off by Gooding & Company. Built in 1884 in France, the four-wheel steam-powered De Dion-Bouton et Trepardoux (aka La Marquis) was driven by the co-founder of the company, Count De Dion.

The vehicle is fueled by coal, wood and bits of paper and can reach a top speed of 38 miles per hour. The car had two previous owners since it was built with quite the lengthy resume. It covered a 19 mile course with an average speed of 26 miles per hour and was the winner of the first car race in 1888.

At an estimated value of somewhere between $1.5 - 2 million USD, our tip for the next owner: keep history where it belongs, in the past! Take care not to bring this thing out on the highway for a joyride. (pic via Gooding & Company)

Long-Term Test: Edmund's Fleet Enhanced With A 1984 Ferrari 308 GTSi!

Bravo guys! This is the kind of stuff we like to read. Sure the 2012 Ferrarinio Lascatola 467 GTS is great and so is the all-new Toyota Noprobmelolla, but what about under paid petrolheads like ourselves, is there no magical solution for us? Of course there is; how about a used supercar, you know, the ones that made us sprinkle our beds in lust in our pre-adolescent years but cost as much as a Toyota Camry today.

But wait, haven’t we already thought about that? Of course we did but who’d risk buying a used Ferrari without having the slightest clue of its running costs or the problems involved in owning one? We wouldn’t. And that’s the thought behind Edmunds project. Buy a $28.000 Ferrari 308 GTSi and see if turns out a dream come true or an Italian nightmare with incalculable losses.

Time Takes Its Toll: Tulsa’s ’57 Plymouth Belvedere Covered In Rust

As many feared on Wednesday when workers discovered that the 1957 Plymouth Belvedere’s crypt was partially filled with water, the past 50 years had not been the kindest to Tulsa’s buried car. On Friday night (June 15), half a century after Tulsa residents closed the lid on the two-door coupe, the ceremonial curtain went up and the protective plastic wrapping removed only to reveal the ’57 Belvedere completely covered in rust.

Definitely not a happy site for any petrolhead. But you know something, this old gal is so special that all the rust in the world couldn’t take her dignity away. 50 years buried under the earth, people came, people left, the man went to the moon and back and Plymouth disappeared, but she was there, waiting patiently for her time to come to see the sun again. Maybe not the way she dreamt it to be, but heck, who can say that we are what we used to be. -More pictures and a video of the unearthing after the jump

Horror: Tulsa’s Burried 1957 Plymouth Belvedere Soaked In Water

We’re pretty sure that most of you will have heard the story:On June 15, 1957, Tulsa Town buried a brand-new Plymouth Belvedere along with along with several other artefacts (a pack of cigarettes, bobby pins, an unpaid parking ticket etc) in a cement vault, as part of a contest in which the person who most closely guessed the city’s 2007 population would win the Belvedere on June 15, 2007.

Today (Wednesday June 13), just two days before the ’57 Plymouth’s scheduled exhumation, Tulsa Town decided to open up the vault’s lid. To everyone’s misfortune, the workers discovered several feet of standing water and indications that the car had been submerged. Tulsa’s Public Works Department was summoned to pump the water out of the vault but since there was a danger that the water could be toxic, the Fire Department's Hazmat team was also called to the scene. Ironically, the vault had been built to withstand a nuclear attack, but apparently not water.

While the condition of the tailfinned Belvedere remains uncertain because the car was covered in cosmolene, a metal preservative then wrapped in plastic, the equation -’57 Plymouth, half a century and several feet of water, is definitely not promising. ebay: Roudi’s Ford F350 Based Audi 5000 SUV

For unknown reasons we share the same lust for circus-type creations like Roudi’s Audi SUV as the boyz down at Jalopnik. And why shouldn’t we -its not as if you can find everyday an ‘85 Audi 5000s sitting on top of a Ford F350 4x4 chassis with a 390 c.i. V8 engine and monster truck wheels. Moreover, it’ll only cost you a mere $1.500 if you hurry up and make a bid on ebay. Come to think of it, wouldn’t you agree that it’d make a perfect garage-match with the BMW E21 4x4 found for sale in Dallas, Texas? -Vehicle description and image gallery after the jump

Vehicle Description

You are looking at a 4X4 that I built about ten years ago that was a spur of the moment thing. Had the car with a blown engine and a rolled over truck and put them together, very well I might say. I have had it in some mud runs, played alot with it, even got stuck a few times and when this one is stuck you are really stuck.

Down to specs- 1985 Audi 5000S sitting on an F350 4X4 chassis with a 390 engine with not alot of miles on it because it was rebuilt what I built the car. Has 40" Trailblazer tires that are pretty worn out and needs the gas tank cleaned out and fresh gas. I started it this week with a gas can in the engine compartment and it still runs fine.

It needs some minor repairs depending what you want to do with the car, like the passanger mirror is broken, and some minor rust coming thru. I have two titles for this vehicle, one for the car and one for the truck. Full time 4 wheel drive with lock out hubs and an automatic transmission. I changed the interior to vinyl because of the mud I use to get in it, so now I just hose it out and ready to go again. Got to many toys so I am getting rid of some. 385 Ferraris Set Guinness World Record For The Largest Parade Of Ferrari Cars

385 Ferraris ranging from a 250 California Spider through to the 250GTO and the ultra-exclusive FXX, as well as several examples of the iconic supercars, the F40, F50 and Enzo, set a new Guinness World Record for the ‘Largest Parade of Ferrari Cars’ at Silverstone on Saturday 9 June, 2007. Definitely a sight that can make a grown man’s heart break into pieces. For those of you who love numbers, according to the organizers, the Ferraris that participated in the parade had an estimated value of more than €88 million - $117 million! -Continued below

Massimo Fedeli, Managing Director of Ferrari GB Ltd, said: “What an amazing sight… We are proud to have the support of so many Ferrari owners today in setting a new Guinness World Record. We would like to express our sincere thanks to the Owners Club, our Sponsors and everyone who has been working behind the scenes for months to achieve this fantastic record.”

In order to comply with the Guinness World Record’s rules for such an attempt, all the cars had to travel over a minimum 2 mile distance, no more than two car lengths apart, and had to be counted at the beginning and the end of the parade. With a starting grid of Ferrari cars stretching from Becketts all the way to Copse on the Silverstone Circuit, the cars completed one full lap and covered a distance of 3 miles, driving two abreast around the entire circuit. Leading the parade was a 599 GTB Fiorano driven by Bruno Senna, nephew of three-time World Champion Ayrton Senna

Volvo 244 With A 284Hp Toyota Supra Twin-Turbo Engine!

It’s "bricks on fire" down-under were an Australian bloke swapped the sloth 4-cylinder stock engine in his Volvo 244 GLE with a Toyota 1JZ-GTE / R154 powertrain! The 1JZ-GTE is a 6 cylinder, 2.5-litre, twin cam 24 valve, twin turbo engine pushing out around 284Hp / 208kW and 363Nm while the R154 is a 5 speed manual gearbox. This specific engine was used in the third-generation Toyota Supras and Soarers –the latter was sold in the U.S as the Lexus SC 300/400.

We have no idea how the rear-wheel drive Volvo handles on the road, but honestly, we don’t give a kangaroo’s poop. We’d give anything just to see the reaction of a driver’s face when you overtake him with a supped-up brick that sounds like a Supra. Mazda’s Rotary Engine 40th Anniversary: Wallpapers & Rotary Widget Included

On May 30th 1967, Mazda sold its first rotar-engine powered car and simultaneously, the world’s first dual-rotar, rotary engine vehicle, the Cosmo Sport. 40 years latter and while most manufactures have long abandoned the idea of developing the innovative but also problematic, rotar-engine, Mazda continues to believe in Felix Wankel's dream. Tomorrow, May 30, 2007, Mazda will celebrate the rotary engine 40th birthday by opening a dedicated website -we’ll have more details on that later on.
