Edo Competition Lamborghini Murcielago LP640

…or how to spend a few extra thousand bucks on your limited edition Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 to make it a tad more special than the one your next door neighbor parks outside. Beats us why someone would want to muck around with a jewel like the LP640 but we're not millionaires so whatev. Compared to the factory version, Edo Competition’s LP640 features a recalibrated ECU, special high-flow air filters, new high-performance catalytic converters, an exhaust butterfly valve control (remote-controlled on request), a high-flow muffler and new stainless steel exhaust tips. These modifications added another 23Hp to the stock 6.5-liter V12 engine raising output to 663Hp while maximum torque’s up by 15Nm to 675Nm.

Wanna hear something funny? Get this; while the stock LP640 sprints from 0 to 100km/h (62mph) in 3.4 sec and reaches a top speed of 340 km/h (211mph), Edo’s version accelerates from 0 to 100km/h (62mph) in… 3.8 sec! However to be fair, it does boast a slightly higher maximum speed -348km/h (216mph). -Continued: Click “Read More…” below

Engine revisions apart, Edo offers a specially designed rear wing with adjustable lip, custom paint job for the wheels (on request) and minor interior mods including a rear view camera Carbon fiber interior trim.

Lamborghini LM400 Concept: Proposition For LM 002 Successor

Penned by Rene Harrigan, a BA of Automotive Design at Coventry University, the LM 400 is a concept vehicle inspired by the Lamborghini LM 002. Before Hummer’s stormed off the Kuwait war to the parking lots of the rich and famous, the LM 002 aka, "Rambo-Lambo" was THE ultimate 4x4. Powered by the Countach’s 444Hp 5.5-litre V12, the LM 002 was produced from 1986 to 1993 in just 301 units. Basically, it was the final evolution of a project dubbed Cheetah that started in 1977 and aimed at supplying 4x4 vehicles to the US Army.

Harrigan’s proposition for a spiritual successor to the LM 002 cuts all military connections though, as the LM 400 is nothing more, nothing less than a modern SUV projected to spend most, or rather, all of its time on and not off, road. Its designer says that it would be based on the Audi Q7 / Porsche Cayenne ? VW Touareg platform using V8, V10 and V12 units. What do you think about it? Lamborghini: Commemorative stamp issued by the Italian Post Office

Being an amateur collector myself –not a stamp, but a die-cast car collector, I fully understand how many chaps must feel seeing this particular postage stamp issued by the Italian Post Office (Poste Italiane) that's dedicated to the Lamborghini Miura. The €0,85 stamp that features a reproduction of the distinctive Sant’ Agata Bolognese mark, can be purchased along with a limited number of ‘first day covers’ from Italian post offices. The first day cover includes a booklet introducing the stamp and the legendary Lamborghini story, signed by the company’s CEO, Stephan Winkelmann. The Lamborghini stamp belongs to the ‘Made In Italy’ series with an anticipated production of around 3,500,000 stamps.

Lamborghini Murcielago SV: Lightweight version spotted

SV stands for Super Veloce which in Italian, means Super Fast. But hey, doesn’t Lamborghini already have a “sportier” version of the Murcielago, the LP640? They do, and officially, the SV doesn’t exist. However according to the guys at Car magazine and their photographer who snapped some pretty interesting shots, Lamborghini will introduce this special, lightweight version of the Murcielago LP640 at the Frankfurt Show in September. Like the Gallardo Superleggera, the Murcielago SV will go on a diet loosing some 100 kg (220 lbs) thanks to the interior stripping, the addition of carbon ceramic brakes etc. No changes are expected under the (rear) hood with the LP640’s 643Hp V12 continuing to power all-wheels. -Continued below

ebay: Lamborghini Countach Limousine Replica

Once this project car is completed, if anything, you’ll never go around your neighborhood unnoticed. Unlike most of the Limos we’ve featured here at Carscoop, this is a replica, based on Pontiac Fiero platform and mechanics; thus meaning no actual live Countach was hurt during the transformation. Just in the extremely rare case that you’re interested, we added a couple of images after the jump featuring a finished 4door Countach Limo so you can get a better idea of what you're getting into -literally & metaphorically .

Tuning: Hamann Lamborghini Murcielago LP640

Making its premiere at the 2007 Tuning World Bodensee in Germany, Hamann’s version of the Murcielago LP640 boasts visual (?) and aerodynamic enchantments but no mechanic alterations maintaining the 640Hp strong V12 of the stock edition. The Lambo package consists of 20-inch black rims, a front spoiler and a rear wing available in Carbon-Kevlar or fibreglass, a two-part rear diffuser with additional air hoses for the extendable side air intakes, side sills and a central running air box on the roof reminiscent of the Lamborghini Diablo GT-R. As for the LP640’s inner-self, Hamann offers an 8-part carbon-look interior set. –Images & Press Release after the jump

PRESS INFORMATION

Stealth-Bomber for the race track: HAMANN Lamborghini Murciélago LP640

  • Aerodynamic-components provide impressions of racing motor sports
  • double-pipe stainless steel rear silencer
  • Wheels „Edition Race“ in 20 inch
  • Carbon-look interior set
  • Complete interior kits to customer preferences on individual basis

It looks like a Stealth-Bomber on four wheels. It is one of the most masculine looking sports car and it is fast. The Lamborghini LP640 through its appearance gives a clear impression it’s not just for show. HAMANN decisively set its goal to send a clear message and sharpened the Italian steer’s horns. HAMANNs modifications through look, driving dynamics and sound create a distinct difference.

Maintenance of road contact is most essential when one is pushing a super sports car to the limit. To achieve greater downforce on the front and rear axle HAMANN offers a front spoiler as well as a rear wing. Whoever prefers to show their affiliation to motor sports can order the parts in Carbon-Kevlar instead of the fiberglass version. Where’s the starting grid?

HAMANN applies further aerodynamic components in form of a two-part rear diffuser with additional air hoses for the extendable side air intakes, side sills as well as a two-part front wing and Carbon-pendants for the original side intakes in the sills in front of the rear wheels. Furthermore, a central running air box on the roof brings back memories of past Lamborghini Diablo GT-R days. Naturally, these parts are also available in Carbon-Kevlar or fiberglass.

Impressive sound and stunning rims

The HAMANN double-pipe stainless sports rear silencer (2x120mm end pipes) emits a sound similar to that generated from race tracks announcing the arrival of the blood-curdling steer. Positive side effect; an even sportier rear look. Export customers can extend their exhaust system with a HAMANN sport metallic catalytic converter.

Also for individualization of vehicles within this high performance calibre, a choice of new wheel design is inherent. HAMANN suggests its own creation „Edition Race“. This multi-pieced, forged light alloy metal wheel with black wheel spider, “Y” spoke design, Titan bolts and high polished rim flange utilized for Lamborghini Murciélago LP640 comes in the combination 8,5Jx20“ front and 13,0Jx20“ rear. As expected, HAMANN also offers here a complete wheel set with typical tires sizes 235/30 ZR 20 (FA) und 325/25 ZR20 (RA).

HAMANN prepares the cockpit of the Super-Lambo providing even more sports racing atmosphere. For this, the tuners from Laupheim, Germany offer an 8-part carbon-look interior set. The race car look is established through instrument cockpit bordure, the air bleed jet, the gear shifting panel as well as the cigarette ashtray console. Naturally, HAMANN offers each Lamborghini customer preferred alterations on an individual basis. For instance, extravagant leather furnishing in a variety of colours is possible or additional of multi-media articles.

Shaquille O'Neal’s LWB Lamborghini Gallardo!

WTF; a… XLLL Gallardo? Well, if there’s a distance of 7ft and an inch between the tip of your head and the floor, that’s probably the only way you’ll ever fit into one of these Italian beauties. According to Edmunds, the LWB (+12 inches) Gallardo was created for NBA star Shaquille O’Neal by Gaffoglio Family Metalcrafters, a supplier for corporations like the Boeing Company and PPG Aerospace Glass. -Continued after the jump

Gaffoglio’s CEO George Gaffoglio noted that, “we relied on our aerospace and coachworks divisions to make sure Shaq could fit in the car, but the naked eye could not detect any differences from the original Gallardo". Umm, sorry but, we can…

Lamborghini Gallardo "Superleggera" official pictures

Well that didn’t take long did. Not even 24 hours past after our Sunday post on the light weight Gallardo and even though Lamborghini hasn’t come out yet with an official press release, the first official images have surfaced all over the net. And what beauty do these pics reveal; a lustful piece of art, so brutal and so sexy at the same time.

If you haven’t read our previous post, in a few words, the “Superleggera” is a sporty or rather sportier version of the Gallardo that lost 100 kg (220,5 pounds) and gained 10Hp (overall output 530Hp) thus bettering 0-100 km/h time by 0,2 sec over the standard model (3,8 sec vs 4,0 sec respectively). -Continued: Click “Read More…” below to see the official press release & a high-res image gallery

UPDATED - OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE

The new Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera

The sportiest and most ‘purist’ Gallardo ever

The new more powerful and lightweight series leader

With the Gallardo Superleggera, to be launched at the 2007 Geneva motor show, Automobili Lamborghini presents an uncompromisingly high-performance sports car. Thanks to increased power (an additional 10 hp) and a 100 kg reduction in weight, the new range-leading Gallardo Superleggera is even more dynamic than the already very sporty Gallardo. The weight/power ratio of the Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera is only 2.5 kg/hp, putting it in the top lightweights of its class.

The Superleggera also has the fastest acceleration in its class. It needs only 3.8 seconds to go from 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph); 0.2 seconds less than the basic model, and boasting speed and grit under various driving conditions.

The Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera is an extremely high-performance car: it includes a standard robotized mechanical e-gear gearbox that guarantees shifting without removing hands from the steering wheel. The new Gallardo Superleggera can be ordered through the dealer network starting March 2007: production volumes will be restricted to lower numbers than the standard Gallardo.

More power thanks to technological developments

The Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera’s engine is the latest version of Lamborghini’s well-known 4,961 cm3 V10. Now 530 hp is reached in 8,000 min-1. The increase in power was made possible by the engine’s improved volumetric efficiency through reduced intake load losses and by exhaust backpressures, together with optimized electronic control. Naturally, emission levels observe the strict EURO 4 and LEV II standards.

Higher power thanks to lighter construction

Lamborghini engineers decreased the Lamborghini Gallardo’s already low weight when empty (1,430 kg) by another 100 kg (70kg in the USA) using advanced materials and technologies. The engine hood is made of visible carbon fibre and transparent polycarbonate, a type of material that guarantees lightness and also shows off the magnificent V10. The rear diffuser and underbody covering, the rearview mirrors, door panels and the central tunnel’s covering are also made of carbon fibre. Further reductions in weight were achieved by replacing certain glass surfaces with transparent polycarbonate. For the interior, monocoque carbon fibre sports seats covered in Alcantara were chosen to ensure restraint of the driver and passenger during the intense lateral accelerations that the Gallardo Superleggera is capable of achieving around curves.

Exclusive specification and options range

A comprehensive specification and extensive range of options will be available, with some exclusive to the Superleggera. The Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera comes with robotized mechanical e-gear as standard; a sports package including shock absorbers; and special suede-covered steering wheel. The car is available in four colors: Midas Yellow, Borealis Orange, Telesto Gray and Noctis Black. Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires (standard) on new Scorpius forged rims accentuate the Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera. A few of the options that can be requested include the multimedia system with navigator and CD-changer; a rear video camera to make parking easier (with optional rear wing only); a Carbon accessories kit for the interior; a fixed rear spoiler; a four-point seatbelt (not for USA); tubular rear frame or fitting points for later inclusion (not for USA, Japan or Middle East); and carbon-ceramic brakes.
