Jeep Compass By Brabus – Startech... Part II

I thawt I thaw a Starteth… This morning we received a conspicuous e-mail form Startech concerning a sport pack for the new Jeep Compass that rang a bell. Turns out that Startech had presented the same sport pack back in February. The only difference is the structrure of the press release! Of course we could just play dumb and post the article but we’d feel like total asses so whatev.

Anyway, in case you missed out last time, Brabus owned Startech offers a bodykit along with 18 to 20-inch alloy wheels and interior accessories for the Compass. For the 2.0 CRD model, Startech upgrades the 2.0 diesel engine lifting power by 40Hp to 180Hp. Press Release: STARTECH Refines the Jeep Compass

More Diesel Power and Exclusive Accessories

180 hp (178 bhp) / 132 kW of rated power and a peak torque of 360 Nm (266 ft-lb) for the 2.0 CRD model, as well as a wide range of exclusive accessories: STARTECH offers an exclusive customization program for the Jeep Compass that features numerous innovative detail solutions and leaves nothing to be desired.

The STARTECH SD3 tuning kit for the Compass turbodiesel model can be installed by any authorized Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep dealer in less than 30 minutes. It unleashes the true power inherent in the two-liter diesel engine. The additional 40 hp (39 bhp) / 29.4 kW and the enormous torque that's already available between 1,750 and 2,500 rpm, are the result of an auxiliary control module that governs the engine electronics. The engine tuning can be further optimized with the STARTECH stainless-steel sport exhaust. The latter is integrated into the STARTECH individualization concept for this Jeep model based on a brand-new idea.

The two oval tailpipes left and right are seamlessly integrated into the STARTECH rear molding, which is part of the striking designer suit for the Compass. It is styled like an underride guard. The rear molding can also be installed without sport exhaust.

The replacement for the front apron is also shaped like a modern underride guard and lends the five-door a more aggressive expression. The front can be further refined with two stylized air dams below the turn signals. Their 'eyelashes' give the 4x4 a sharper profile. The STARTECH body conversion is rounded out by rocker panels shaped like running boards.

The STARTECH look is further dominated by custom-tailored tire/wheel combinations for the Compass, available with diameters of 19 and 20 inches, instead of the stock 18-inch wheels. The STARTECH Monostar IV five-spoke wheels are silver polished and fill out the space below the wheel arches nicely. They are mounted in size 8.5Jx19 all around with tires in size 255/40 R 19 or in size 9Jx20 in front and back with tires in size 245/35 R 20 all around.

STARTECH also offers progressive-rate springs that lower the ride height of the American SUV by some 30 millimeters. The lowered center of gravity gives the vehicle even sportier and safer handling characteristics.

STARTECH also adds exclusive and individual highlights in the cockpit. These include stainless-steel scuff plates with illuminated STARTECH logo and high-quality velour floor mats. Exclusive highlights in the Compass cockpit are added with the STARTECH Lifestyle interior upgrade package. It includes leather-covered door trim with embossed Compass logo and color-contrasted ornamental stitching that also adorns the trim piece for the dashboard. The interior is further upgraded with high-gloss silver-coated loudspeaker moldings that are designed to look like a compass.

Chrysler Recalling 80,000 Wranglers and Nitros - One Accident Linked To The Issue

Chrysler Group announced on Tuesday, July 3 that it was recalling more than 80.000 or to be exact, 80.894 2007 Jeep Wrangler and Dodge Nitro SUV models in the States due to a defect that could cause power interruptions leading to a short engine stall. On its behalf, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said that it opened an investigation in May after receiving about 180 complaints of engine stalling in Wrangler and Nitro vehicles. As with all recalls, Chrysler Group said that it will notify owners of the vehicles affected in a weeks time with the work completed of course free of charge.

Jeep Wrangler & Wrangler Unlimited Tweaked By Brabus – Startech

20-inch rims & 285/50 rubber? While we find these sorts of mods utterly pointless for a thoroughbred 4x4 we’ll secretly admit to liking Startech’s accessories program, available for both short wheelbase and the long wheelbase Wranglers. Beginning with the wheels, Brabus’ Chrysler Group tuning arm offers polished five-spoke, 20-inch Monostar rims with 285/50 on/off tires.

Exterior-wise, Startech has equipped the Wrangler with tubular side guards (for short and long wheelbase models) to protect the rocker panels and partially hide the Jeep’s frame from view while the spare wheel cover gets a with high-gloss stainless-steel ring. The interior of the Jeep can also be upgraded with highly polished scuff plates and Startech’s own sport steering wheel. Additional customization requests can be fulfilled by the company-own Startech upholstery shop that offers among others, partial and fully leather interiors made from Mastik leather. -Continued after the jump

Startech motor engineers are currently developing the SD 4T tuning module for the 2.8-liter (171 cu. in.) common-rail turbodiesel engine along with new sport exhausts available for all engine and body variants of the Jeep. The fully stainless-steel exhausts feature one characteristic oval chrome tailpipe each on the right and left, and produce a more sonorous engine sound, while at the same time promise to optimize power yield.

Jeep Wrangler Ultimate & JT: 2007 SEMA Concepts

Jeep decided to share with us the first pictures of their upcoming Wrangler based Ultimate & JT concepts both of which will make their public appearance at the 2007 SEMA Show in October. Beginning with the sand-colour JT, the 4x4 pick-up is based on the new Wrangler Unlimited's 116-inch wheelbase platform featuring a 5-foot pickup bed and an easy-to-handle removable hardtop. Its off road capabilities have been enhanced thanks to the 3-inch suspension lift provided by Superlift, the 35-inch BF Goodrich Mud Terrain tires, the Mopar rear bumper & rock rails and an a Ramsey 9500 UT winch.

Coated in an experimental colour dubbed “Liquid Charcoal Pearl Coat”, the Wrangler Unlimited based Ultimate gets the same suspension and tire upgrade as the JT adding a heap of Mopar exterior chrome enhancements (including: fuel filler door, tail lamp guards, tubular side steps, exterior mirrors, tow hooks, door handles, hood hinge & fascia overlays). Jeep also took a shot at the interior adding clad seating surfaces in durable orange mesh fabric and dark slate gray Nappa/Province leather – bound with a heavy black-leather baseball stitch while the instrument panel details are treated to an Argent Pearl/Satin Silver paint combination. -High-res Image gallery after the jump

Ebay: Custom(am)aized AM General Postal Jeep...

The things people do to grab our attention… If it weren’t for Miss Pinky and her 3-spoke 22’’ Bermuda triangle, and despite that fact that the postal jeep features a 10’’ DVD screen and a retractable poker table, I believe we’d bypass the customized AM General without a second thought… Link: ebay
