Humbug: VW Dune Buggy Gets Hammered...

Mother bugger! Meet the micro Hammer or, as its current owner prefers you call it, the Humbug. Based on a ’69 VW Dune Buggy this totally street-legal, dwarflike replica of the Hummer H1 is equipped with a 1.6L Volkswagen engine. We don’t know if it actually gets around 30mpg as its ebay seller says it does, but we’re definitely sure that you’ll shag an H1 anytime in terms of consumption. Could be yours for $12.700 - €9.400. -Check out the image gallery of the Humbug after the jump

LG teams up with VW to create the Beetle MP3 Player

Unveiled earlier this month at the Seoul Motor Show, the Beetle MP3 player is the work of LG & of course, VW. Apparently, it’s said to be styled after the VW Beetle. You can decide for yourselves from the pics. We say, “The Beetle is in the eye of the beholder”- in other words, we don’t see it. Aside from the colour choices that the player is available in, which you can uniquely match to the colour of your Beetle, and the VW badge on the front and the new Beetle logo at the back, we don’t see much of a resemblance between the two.

Standard MP3 player options on this piece include a 2.4-inch LCD screen, 2 GB and 4 GB capacities with 2 embedded flash game, 20 hours of music playback and 3 hours of video time. According to LG’s representative in South Korea Judy Pae, plans for the commercial launch of the Beetle MP3 Player have yet to be decided. Posted by Dani

VW New Beetle Triple White Limited edition

More of Barbie-mobile than a "real" car, I was never too fond of VW’s attempt to recreate the original Bug. However, I’ve got to hand it to VW’s designers as the “New Beetle” looks like it just came out of a design studio. Anyway, the Triple White Limited Edition is a white colored New Beetle Cabrio with a… white interior and yep, you guessed it; a white roof boot. Available at a VW dealer near you for 25.990 USD. -Continued: Click “Read More…” below to see the high-re image gallery and the press release

Hippie-mobiles are "in": The Verdier VW Solar Power

Not sure if you’ve seen this before but we found it "totally out of site”. Well, apart from the music that is, as it has as many similarities to John Lennon as a Teletubbies show has to Snoop Dogg. The virtual model seen here was created by a Canadian company called “Verdier”. As we learned from their site, the Verdier Solar Power won the Special Prize from the Jury at the Caravaning Desing Award 2006/2007, Innovation for new mobility. The prize was awarded during the Caravan Salon Dusseldorf in Germany. Groovy!

Pic of the Day: Volkswagen Beetle “Yin & Yang”

If my information is correct, this wonderful sculpture with the two opposite facing & coloured VW Bugs is found in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Got to hand it to the artist (does anybody have any idea who it is) for using an automotive icon like the VW Beetle to portray the “Yin & Yang” philosophy, which describes two primal opposing, but complementary forces found in all things in the universe. Belissimo ! Via: Diariomotor

Volkswagen Snow Sleds – Golf GTI & Beetle Herbie versions included!

Remember that classic Christmas present; a wooden snow sled composed of three pieces of wood and a couple rusty metal skids. Or even the make-shift ones composing of a huge plastic garbage bag? Well, Volkswagen has thought of a way to put those old wooden sleds and make shift ninnies to shame with a series of 8 different rapid departure sleds for kids in various age groups.

These savvy sleds get steering wheels, padded seating and cold resistant plastics, turning this old winter pass time into a whole new experience. The unquestionable stars of this collection though are the Lenkbob Snow Future GTI and Snow Flyer Herbie versions which are inspired from the Golf GTI and the Beetle Herbie respectively.

2054 Volkswagen Beetle

It's the year 2054, GreatWall has just finished buying out GM, the last American owned car company, as Ford had been taken over by Tata a decade ago. In Europe, the German-Japanese-French car alliance that includes PSA, Renault, Nissan, VW Group celebrates its eternal CEO's, Carlos Ghosn's, centennial birthday by debuting the 12th generation VW Beetle.

Equipped with a NeoPlasma Magnetic engine, the 3.17 m long Beetle can accelerate from zero to 100 km/h (62mph) in 5 sec while it can achieve a top speed of 300 km/h. During the presentation, Ghosn, who is also the president of the EUR (European Russian Union), NATO, Greenpeace and the Union of abandoned East Timorian puppies, nearly had his 44th heart attack when he discovered that someone had put a real life flower in the dashboard vase as flowers are more expensive than a gallon of petrol in the second half of the 21st century.

All joking aside, this futuristic design was conceived by Carlos Agell. According to its designer, it measures 3.17 m in length, 2.25m in height and 1.4m in width. It's equipped with a laser gyrostabilization system and it has liquid metal body -whatever that means... Via: Motorpasion
