Hyundai Veracruz Revealed to the Press

Hyundai presented the brand new Veracruz to the Korean press today. Can't say I'm excited from the pictures, as the Veracruz looks more like a stretched Santa Fe with "egg eyes" rather than a new upmarket SUV. In Korea the 7seater Veracruz will be offered in 2WD & 4WD versions, both fitted with a 3.0 V6, 240 Hp engine. While it's already announced that the US version will get a 3.8 V6 powerplant, for Europe, it's still uncertain if the Veracruz will come at all. Stay tuned on Carscoop for the official press release

Following yesterday's revelation of Hyundai's 2007 Veracruz SUV through a picture gallery & video we've got our hands now on a new set of scanned images from a leaked brochure. While the brochures include new information (+prices for the Korean market) on Hyundai's upper mid-size SUV, unfortunately though, it all seems "Korean" to us.

2007 Hyundai Veracruz : First Pictures & Video !

A couple of days before the official unveiling in the Korean market, Hyundai has given us a few teaser photos of its brand new 2007 Veracruz SUV. I also managed to get the video teaser -sorry about the watermark, where among others; we get to see the prototype during test runs.

Judging from the first pictures, Hyundai-s mid-size SUV design looks like an evolution of the smaller Santa Fe while the interior is full of "Lexus RX" hints. Coincidently, according to Hyundai, the Veracruz will compete primarily with upper midsize crossovers including Honda Pilot, Nissan Murano, Subaru B9 Tribeca and of course, the Lexus RX350.

Equipped with a standard 3.8 liter V6 engine and six-speed automatic transmission, Veracruz's standard features include equipment like Hyundai's HideawayTM third-row seat (50/50 split fold-into-the-floor seat, offering flexibility for up to seven passengers), all-wheel drive, standard Electronic Stability Control (ESC), standard side-airbags, as well as side-curtain airbags for all three rows of passengers.

PS: What to do you think about Hyundai's idea with the Key Chain teaser photo down bellow? Don't know about you, but my mind went straight to an older Audi commercial...

2007 Hyundai Veracruz SUV Picture Update

Oh, boy, those "annoying" camera-phones did it again: they caught the 2007 Hyundai Veracruz with its pant's down... showing off its interior beauties. Too be honest though, I can't say that I’m aroused by the looks of it. Looks too simple, too Korean for me, but hey, who'd expect something different anyway.

In case you've missed it, here's the official Hyundai press release on the 2007 Veracruz plus a few exterior pictures:

The ninth vehicle to join Hyundai's 2007 model year lineup, the midsize Veracruz will be larger than Honda Pilot, have more cargo volume than the full-size Mercedes-Benz GL and offer sleek styling, a car-like ride and premium features.

Veracruz will also feature as standard equipment the Hyundai HideawayTM third-row seat, a simple-to-use 50/50 split fold-into-the-floor seat, offering flexibility for up to seven passengers.

Equipped with a standard 3.8-liter V6 engine and six-speed automatic transmission, Veracruz will offer an unprecedented combination of styling, safety, comfort and convenience including available all-wheel drive, standard Electronic Stability Control (ESC), standard side-airbags, as well as side-curtain airbags for all three rows of passengers. Veracruz will compete primarily with upper midsize crossovers including Honda Pilot, Nissan Murano, Subaru B9 Tribeca and Lexus RX350.

The Godfather: Hyundai Christens Its Upcoming Mid-Sized SUV, Veracruz

Hyundai is getting ready to broaden its car line-up according to a announcement made by a company spokeswoman. The ninth vehicle in Hyundai's 2007 line-up will be called "Veracruz" -after the Mexican state, and it's a mid-sized 7seat SUV that will be equipped with a 3.8 V6 engine and a 6speed auto transmission.

According to the Koreans, the Veracruz will compete in the same sector as the Nissan Murano and the Subaru B9. Sales will start in the US in the first quarter of 2007. Although there are no official pics yet, a few images have leaked in the net giving us a rough idea to how the Veracruz will look like.
