Holy priceless collection of Etruscan snoods! Who’d ever think that Milwaukee-kee sub-zero temperatures could make a man loose it and create this freak of a Batmobile! Poor car, I feel sorry for it; I mean, as if being a 70’s Oldsmobile 98 Convertible isn’t one burden too many, having to wear this pitiful tranny Batman outfit, phwee… And just in case you want to see the replica in all its glory we've added a video featuring the Milwaukee Batmobile with the King of customs himself, George Barris, admiring it -we think... -Continued: Click "Read More..." below for the video and the image gallery

Batpod: Batman's Two Wheel Obsession Breaks Cover

Remember that famous question “Joker”, Batman’s archrival asked: “Where does he get those wonderful toys?” In the upcoming Batman flick, “The Dark Night” that’s due out next summer, we’ll get to see one of cape crusader’s newest toys: the two-wheeler Batpod.

Batman’s version of any form of transportation means plenty of gadgets and the Batpod is no exclusion as its fitted among others with huge cannons mounted on the front of the motorcycle. Although it looks a big “home-made” chances are Batman can still kick some ass while driving it. Hell, Batman can kick ass driving a cardboard box, it’s just what he does. Posted by Dani

Joker's Car In The Upcoming Batman Film, The Dark Night

Making a short detour from our everyday-car spy images, we discovered this scoop photo on the movie website, Latino Review. According to the author, Joker will use the purple-colored 30’s pick-up truck in the sequel of Batman Begins, “The Dark Knight” which is due for release in July 2008. True or not, the pick-up looks so out of place and messed up that we couldn't imagine anyone else driving it but Joker.

HOTWHEELS PRESS RELEASE: Warner Bros. Consumer Products (WBCP), DC Comics, and Mattel, Inc. (NYSE:MAT) announced today the production of a line of Hot Wheels die-cast cars inspired by the Batmobile featured in the 1966 "Batman" television series. The legendary crime-fighting vehicle was designed by custom automotive icon, George Barris, and has since become a lasting symbol of the Batman franchise. Under the partnership, Mattel will produce Hot Wheels Batmobiles, which will begin arriving at retail locations in 2007.

This launch of the Batmobile commemorates the 40th anniversary of the "Batman" television series, which initially aired in 1966, and reintroduces one of television's most recognized vehicles to an entirely new generation of Batman fans and collectors alike. Barris' classic version of the Batmobile is world-renowned and the Hot Wheels reproductions will be the first of their kind.

"We're bringing one of the most iconic entertainment-based Batmobiles to consumers in honor of the television show's 40th anniversary," said Karen McTier, Executive Vice President of Domestic Licensing and Worldwide Marketing, Warner Bros. Consumer Products. "While the vehicle has been reinvented numerous times over the years in comic books, animated series and feature films, the TV Batmobile is still held in the highest regard with countless fans who will truly appreciate this exciting endeavor."

In recognition of the occasion, Mattel will produce multiple scales of the Hot Wheels Batmobile, including a 1:64th scale model that will appear on store shelves in Spring 2007 in the Hot Wheels basic car line. In Fall 2007, there will be an additional 1:64th scale model introduced as well as a 1:43rd scale replica model and a 1:18th scale, which will have three levels of detail and finish. The ultimate version, the Hot Wheels Elite special edition Batmobile, will have enough detail to delight even the most discriminating of Batmobile collectors.

"This is the car that every collector has been asking for," said Geoff Walker, Vice President of Wheels Marketing, Mattel Brands. "This Batmobile designed by George Barris is the version of the Caped Crusader's car that everyone instantly recognizes. We're thrilled at the opportunity to create the Hot Wheels version of this iconic vehicle to be available early next year."

"It is wonderful to see that collectors and fans of the TV Batmobile will finally be able to enjoy an excellent toy reproduction," said George Barris. "We received thousands of letters asking when the TV Batmobile will be available, and are pleased that Hot Wheels is bringing the original to life through different scales and detail. I take great pride in the vehicle's design and know that the Hot Wheels team will do it justice in capturing the details of the original. It is my honor to be a part of the 40-year history of the Batmobile and to have this most famous car be released by Mattel for the consumers."

Holy smoke Batman! Original 60’s Batmobile goes up for sale in the UK next Month

I can remember as if it was yesterday; I’d grab a chocolate fudge ice-cream and a "Big M" with a straw larger than my arm, sit down on the sofa and watch Batman and his fellow cape crusader Robin bursting from the Batcave with their wicked bad Batmobile to capture all those funny-looking crime doers in Gotham city. Even though I saw the original Batman TV series in the 80‘s, in my eyes the Batmobile was “THE” car. And to be honest, it still is. (Continued -click read more)

However, I think that’s enough with my childhood memories. So what’s up with this Batmobile auction? Well, first of all this is one of the original Batmobiles that were created by the master of custom cars, George Barris for the 60’s TV Series. According to THE SUN (British newspaper), this specific Batmobile will go on sale on by Coys Auctions on the 27th of February at the Royal Horticultural Hall in London. Coys expects that the car is likely to fetch more than 75.000 BP, which is about 148.000 USD or 115.000 EUROS. Would I buy it if I could? You bet your life I would. But since I can’t, I’ll guess I’ll have to do with my classic Corgi’s -for now that is. Via: The Sun
