Nigel Mansell "Smokes" A BMW Sauber F1 Car At Silverstone

One time F1 World Champion and three-time British Grand Prix winner, Nigel Mansell, travelled us a few years back last Friday when the former F1 driver was invited to the BMW Sauber F1 Team Pit Lane Park at Silverstone Circuit. Mansell took the driver’s place in a 2006 BMW Sauber F1 car and performed among other things, several doughnuts which obviously thrilled the crowd.

Asked how many doughnuts he had completed, Mansell joked: "I lost count, but I had a fantastic time. It’s the first time I have driven a Formula One car and not had any problems with it!". As for the differences between today’s F1 cars and their ancestors Mansell said, "That took me back. The BMW drives in a similar way to the F1 cars of my era, but the technology advances that have been made since are phenomenal." -Continued after the jump

Over the weekend the '06 BMW Sauber F1 Team car was also driven by 1995 British Grand Prix winner, Johnny Herbert, and BMW Sauber F1 Team driver, Sebastian Vettel.

Autobild Takes The BMW M3 For A Spin At The Ascari Racetrack

The guys over at the German magazine Autobild, kindly sent us the video they shot from last weeks’s media presentation of the E92 BMW M3 in Marbella, Spain. We know you’re probably fed up with all the publicity that BMW’s new M3 and 1-Series Coupe are receiving the past few weeks, however, an inside camera in a 420Hp strong sports coupe performing a couple of rounds at the Ascari racetrack does sound promising.

It’s Sunday, I’ve been stuck inside all day mucking around with my PC –boy, do I need a vacation…, and among other things, I surfed the net in search of a new desktop wallpaper which led me to BMW’s North American site. Before I take a desperately needed break and head off to the beach, I though I’d share with you these artistically gorgeous wallpapers featuring the new 135i Coupe. In all, there are 8 different wallpapers of the new Bavarian compact coupe, available in these dimensions: 800x600, 1024x768, 1152x870, 1280x1024 and 1680x1280. 2008 BMW M3: Amateur Video From The Marbella Media Presentation

These days Marbella has become the epicentre of M3 fans as BMW has chosen the beautiful seaside city in Andalusia, Spain, to perform the presentation of the 420Hp coupe to journalists. Yes, some guys have all the luck; sunny days, Mediterranean beaches, free food and hotels, beautiful Spanish women, a dozen or so E92 M3s and the chance to take the most desirable bimmer of the year for a spin at the Ascari racetrack, located not far from Marbella in a secluded valley in Ronda.

Thankfully (?), we can get a wisp of what’s going on there as a member of the Spanish forum “BMW Faq” managed to snap a few shots of the M3 along with a 6,5 min long video. Even though the drivers seemed a bit restricted, you can just imagine what’s going to happen at Ascari… I’m depressed right now, I think I’ll just crawl into bed and stay there all day. -Pictures after the jump
