2007 Peugeot 207 CC - Paris preview with the 207 e - pure Concept

Take out the 70's inspired white coloured leather interior and the "Kermit the frog" floor mats of the 207 e - pure concept and here you have it: the 2007 Peugeot 207 CC. Pug's second generation compact Coupe-Cabrio is of course based on the new 207 and like its predecessor, the 206 CC, it features a two-piece electric folding roof. The actual production model will most probably make its premiere at the 2007 Geneva Motor Show in March, with sales commencing in Europe latter in the year.

Fuel-Cell Tech: As Peugeot decided not to make any design differentiations -apart from the weird coloured interior, the French are justifying the 207 e - pure's concept nature by equipping it with an experimental fuel-cell powertrain. According to Peugeot, the 207 e - pure uses a newly designed GENEPAC fuel cell. The principle of this new cell, featuring a technology Peugeot calls PEMFC (Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell) is based on the use of thin, stamped stainless-steel plates which reduce the cost and volume of the cell compared to traditional plates.

Five cylinders containing 3 kg of hydrogen compressed to 700 bar provides the electric motor and the "lithium-Ion" battery with as much extra power and range as possible. They are located at the bottom of the vehicle's boot, which frees up the two rear seats, does not affect the operation of the retractable roof mechanism and leaves part of the boot available for use in the coupe position.
